The following study shows that ultrasound is more suitable than vibration measurement for the monitoring of low speed roller bearings and the detection of incipient failures.
Considering that bearing failures are one of the main causes of rotating machinery breakdown, the importance of regular condition monitoring and predictive maintenance becomes clear.
