Detection of leaking valves with acoustic emissions

Valves play a key role in many critical areas and their failure can lead to serious problems. The detection of leaking valves is therefore crucial, but the special characteristics of valves (e.g. temperature influences of the environment) require a unique approach.

In this context, ultrasonic technology has proven to be the number one choice:

it is a non-destructive approach, no disassembly of the valves is required and the acoustic emissions can be measured despite ambient noise.

The following article presents the applications of ultrasonic technology in the monitoring of valves and shows how well acoustic emissions are suited for the detection of leaking valves.
